How do I attach edible flowers to my cake?

If you're adding edible flowers to a buttercream cake, simply press the petals lightly into the buttercream - they will stay put! If you're adding them to a cake covered in sugarpaste, a tiny bit of edible glue will help to secure them.

What do edible flowers taste like?

Each type of edible flower has a slightly different taste - some are sweet, some more fragrant, and others more peppery. However, when the petals are dried, their flavour is much milder and more subtle. So our dried edible flowers from Nurtured in Norfolk won't alter the taste of your bakes!

Are all flowers safe to eat?

No, not all flowers are edible. Be sure to buy flowers specifically described as edible for your cake decorating.

Are edible flowers better than fresh flowers for a cake?

Edible flowers are a great choice for a cake as they take the stress and guesswork out of it. You know you are adding something that your guests can safely consume.

Fresh flowers come with the risk of pesticides, and require flower nails or cake pins to attach them. But in addition to that, if purchased before the big day, they can begin to wilt. Not what you need when decorating a wedding cake!

Edible flowers can be attached directly to your cake with a little edible glue (or can be pushed directly onto buttercream), and they can be added to the cake before the big day itself!
